Rebuilt my portfolio as a manga volume, then replaced every placeholder in it with something that can be checked.
What I built
A portfolio laid out like a book: a prologue, chapters, a contents page with page numbers measured from the live layout, and a colophon. The images are plates generated from code at build time, and the commit activity in the journey comes from the GitHub API whenever the site is built.
What changed along the way
The first draft used a made-up studio and placeholder projects to test the design. This version keeps the design and throws the fiction out: the projects are RentMate and GreenUP, the dates come from their histories, and anything that isn’t known yet stays hidden rather than being filled in.
